Coaches Corner
The adventure of the mighty Shockers
begins a new chapter with the start of indoor soccer at the select level. It's going to be AWESOME. For those that know me
know how much I love indoor soccer. For those of you who didn't know that Now you do.
Before we talk about indoors lets recap our select experience so far. Ist tournament,
eh we already know played hard came up short. 2nd tourney. Played AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Nothing else can be said. We went into
the last game with one of the 10 cornerstones sidelined with injury(thankfully she had a full recovery). We had an awesome
game, we played hard and in the end came up short against a good team. Next year when we go back we should be a top contender.
We play to have fun, develop some soccer skills and of course in the end to win.
I honestly believe that it's just as important for the parents to be enjoying the whole soccer experience as much as the player. I
think that the overall experience and fellowship that the girls (and parents) shared over the weekend is the main
reason we will have fun and continued success in our journey through select soccer winning or losing. (hopefully the
winning out numbers the losing so I can keep my job) If we lose alot I'll fire Matt. (hahahaha) and replace him with Ronnie.
Now for some more soccer rambling
We finished 3rd out of 10 which speaks for itself. Our goal differential (goals
for - goals against) was 7. we had 14 goals scored and 7 goals scored against. When it comes down to tie breakers in the standings
this is one of the big areas they look at. If we wouldn't have scored big 9-1 in our 2nd game we wouldn't have finished in
3rd.
I can't say it enough. HOW BOUT THEM SHOCKERS!!!
